The world should be suspect of any event that David Duke chooses to attend, no? And yet, there he was, making international news at Iran's anti-Holocaust conference. The presence of David Duke seems to weaken the validity of the conference. I also sincerely wish that if people are going to argue against the creation of Israel, they did so in a way that didn't attempt to reinvent history to exclude the Holocaust. There are a number of legitimate arguments that do not require a dreamland version of Hitler's Germany and can therefore actually be debated. Couching one's arguments in terms of a fictionalized history only serves to further prove that one is, in fact, extremely racist/bigoted/pick your word of choice here.
Darfur continues to fall apart. Excellet article here.
And contre les evils of factory farming, check out The Meatrix.
As for school, things are going well. I'm about to enter my last week of B-Block. Last week, we did our Julia Child presentation for gastronomy. My group worked extremely well together and we ended up with a 30/30. That score exempts us from the final. Woohoo. I had a Math and Product Knowledge test on Friday and a Food Safety test on Thursday. This week, we've got our Math and Product Knowledge finals on Wednesday and our Food Safety final on Thursday (the final is the ServSafe exam). And then we're done. Thankfully, I got out of writing. The CIA approved a number of transfer credits.
I got a job at the Poughkeepsie Children's Home working at one of the group homes. It's a little trying, but definitely interesting and I'm enjoying it. The house mother there is phenomenal and I think I can learn a lot from her.
So I'm pushing through. After we come back from break, we move into the Fish Kitchen for 7 days and then Meat for 7 days. And then everything starts, full force.
